Amalfi

Amalfi has always been a hospitable town, perhaps a legacy of its glorious past as a Maritime Republic and an important commercial center.

Today it is one of the landmarks of international tourism and a popular destination for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who add it to their trip, even if only for a day.

Attractions

The main monuments are certainly concentrated around the main square where you will find the imposing Cathedral dedicated to the Apostle Andrew. You reach it by climbing a majestic stone staircase and you certainly cannot remain indifferent to its splendid facade decorated with mosaics.

Admire its famous bronze door, cast in Constantinople, the naves covered by a coffered ceiling, the Baroque high altar and the Chapel of Reconciliation, where the relic of the apostle’s head is located.
Also in the Cathedral area, it is important to visit the Crypt, which houses the Saint’s other relics and valuable statues and frescoes; the Basilica of the Crucifix, which constitutes the oldest core of the structure; and the Cloister of Paradise.

Also in the vicinity of Cathedral Square, find the Arsenal Maritime Museum, which hosts events and exhibitions and is housed inside the surviving naval arsenal of the Maritime Republic of Amalfi.

Also worth visiting are the Amalfi Handmade Paper Museum and the Civic Museum, housed at the Town Hall.
